Kiwanis club members believe in service. They care about children. They're interested in the community around them—because the community matters to them.
They're people like you. Friends. Neighbors. Volunteers who want to make a difference. And they love to see the difference they make when they work together.
Join us Saturday, August 4 at 8:00am as we take 20 children from the Boys and Girls Club shopping for new clothes for school. We will need as many volunteers as possible to make this day a success! If possible, we try to pair up each child individually with a volunteer. Each pair then travels around the store picking out new shoes, socks, underwear, clothes/uniforms for school, and, if there is enough money, a new backpack and maybe a small fun item. Many of these children's families can't afford to take them shopping every year for new clothes, and they might have gone to school with clothes and shoes that were worn out and/or too small. As you know, this service project is funded by the club foundation and one that benefits those children who need new uniforms and other necessities to begin the new school year. Please come around to the west entrance of Sears, and make sure you arrive by 7:45am! Sears opens their doors early for us only, and we complete the shopping by 10am
Kiwanis clubs are volunteer-based. Club meetings offer an atmosphere of fun, learning and fellowship. Kiwanis members typically volunteer each month to assist with club service projects.
